SkillZone sessions have the aim of improving individual skill, technique and control using a range of innovative coaching techniques and equipment.
At InsideOut we believe that too much of an emphasis on winning games at a young age can have a detrimental effect on the skills, technique, creativity, control and enjoyment of young players.
Players are encouraged by some adults to kick the ball as far as far as possible or to pass to the best player to ensure the team wins the game. Whilst the team may win games, individuals within that team do not develop the skills which will help them to play against better players and even worse some players decide not to play football again!
At SkillZone we concentrate on providing individual players with the skills and the confidence to really express themselves when involved in game situations. Every player will get up to a thousand touches of the ball during a SkillZone session as everyone will be given a ball to develop their skills at their own pace.
During each SkillZone session we also carry out an assessment of the progress of each player using our specially designed SoccAsess skills challenges. Each player carries out a range of challenges which assesses their individual dribbling, passing, turning and control skills. At the end of each programme each player receives a report on their progress which is compared against their previous scores.
SkillZone sessions are available for Mini-squad (years 1 & 2), Allstars (yrs 3 & 4) and Hotshots (Years 5 & 6) and take place during the early evening or at weekends. For more details about SkillZone sessions in your area please look at the programme calendar.
