At this stage children/young people undergo many physical and emotional changes which can affect the way they play football or interact with others. Despite these changes players are much more responsive to co-operative activities, able to recognize the effects of their play on other players.
At this stage players are ready for more competitive play and all sessions and activities will nurture this competitive instinct in a positive way. The technical, tactical and physical elements all come together within the Seniors stage to provide young players with the attributes to go forward and compete effectively in senior football.
Innovative equipment
In the seniors stage equipment from all the previous stages is combined to provide multi-challenges for players. An example might include using the speed gun, step hurdles and agility ladders into one exercise to test power of shot, speed of the player and fitness.
Innovative teaching/learning techniques
The seniors stage provides an opportunity to look at how players can transfer all of the skills and knowledge gained from the previous stages to compete effectively in full match situations.
At this point players will begin to take part in 11v11 games and many of the practices will be based around their role within these games.
Video is again used more frequently in this stage to enable players to analyse their own and other player performances.
