Mini - Squad
(AGES 5-7 SCHOOL YEARS 1+2)
The art of developing effective training sessions for children lies in knowing which kind of practice the player is ready for at any given stage of his/her physical and mental development. Children will only learn quickly, effectively and thoroughly when the demands of the training sessions match their intellectual, psychological and motor skills.

Mini-squad sessions are designed enable young players to actively participate in the coaching and learning process, encouraging them to become more independent from frequent coaching instruction. During this phase they will begin to develop the basic techniques and ideas which will provide a foundation for the Allstars, Hotshots and Seniors stages. A range of innovative equipment and coaching techniques are used to ensure that players learn new skills and more importantly enjoy each session.
Innovative equipment
We use a wide range of equipment to enable and motivate children to develop skills which will provide a foundation for future stages, these include speed guns to measure the power of each players shot and soccer swing-ball which is a fun game to designed to improve timing of the ball.
Innovative teaching/learning techniques
We use a combination of music and video and a child centred approach to bring sessions to life for children. Music not only acts as a motivation for children but also helps them to develop their natural rhythm and co-ordination.
Video can act as a real motivational and coaching tool as information is delivered in an entertaining and visual format.
As with the Little Nippers stage we aim to provide children with an opportunity to develop the direction of each session, encouraging them to ask questions and add ideas which develops communication skills, creativity and of course their motivation.
